Emulsion is a festival celebrating new music and improvisation. Curated by saxophonist/composer Trish Clowes (BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist) and composer Luke Styles (Glyndebourne Young Composer in Residence), Emulsion programs improvised and contemporary classical music alongside each other, to co-exist or to interact in the form of collaborations and new commissions.
This will be the third Emulsion since its beginnings in 2012 and for this special two night event, ECM artists Food (saxophonist Iain Ballamy and drummer Thomas Strønen) will headline. Also performing are Clowes’ Tangent, Styles’ Ensemble Amorpha, contemporary vocal group Juice and Dan Nicholls’ Strobes+ByramArt (big beats/electrov-improv/integrated visuals).
Expect unusual programming, interesting use of space, fun and joy in experimentation.
The festival will be dotted with collaborations and premieres of new works supported by the PRS for Music Foundation and Arts Council England. The Emulsion development scheme for the core Emulsion artists is supported by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.
3 Sets of Music will be performed:
