Emptyset present their first electronic live show in London for over a decade, bringing their signature full frequency sonics and bass led productions to Village Underground.

Showcasing work from their new release ‘Ash’ - a collection of sound experiments developed over the last three years and assembled in Bristol during summer 2023. The material traverses dense structural percussion and physical sonics, employing spatialised recording techniques and analogue hardware processing to capture the visceral, transformative and sculptural properties of sound. Ash revisits Emptyset's formative origins within Bristol's continuum of low frequency sound system production balanced with their innovative multi-disciplinary output operating between the fields of sound, performance, architecture and music. The live-set marks a return for the collaborative duo of James Ginzburg and Paul Purgas, following Ginzburg's work within the exploratory performance group Osmium and Purgas' extensive research into the history of India's first electronic music studio.

The compositions of Maria W Horn implement synthetic sound, electroacoustic and acoustic instruments and audiovisual components, often devicing generative and algorithmic processes to control timbre, tuning and texture. She employs a varied instrumentation ranging from analog synthesizers to choir, string instruments, pipe organ and various chamber music formats. Acoustic instruments are often paired with digital synthesis techniques, in order to extend the instruments timbral capacities. Often based on minimalist structures, her music explores the inherent spectral properties of sound and their ability to transcend time and space, reality and dream.
