Mandy, Indiana

18.00 — 22.00

Recorded in caves, crypts, and shopping centres, Mandy, Indiana's debut album "i've seen a way" is an everywhere-at-once masterpiece. This Manchester-based experimental noise band transcends genres, channeling chaos into an expertly executed vision that's entirely new and adventurous.

Formed by vocalist Valentine Caulfield and guitarist Scott Fair, Mandy, Indiana's sound is chaotic yet precise, combining manipulated chance operations, percussive geometries, and gnarled guitars with lyrical repetitions. Their early recordings and acclaimed EP attracted attention from artists like Daniel Avery and secured support slots from the Horrors, Squid, and Gilla Band.

The album, produced by Fair, features mixing by Daniel Fox, Robin Stewart, and mastering by Heba Kedry. The band draws inspiration from disrupted cinema language and film soundtracks, creating textures and unexpected moments to keep the audience engaged.

Unconventional recording locations with unique acoustics, including caves and shopping malls, played a crucial role in shaping the album's sound. Mandy, Indiana's manifesto is one of openness and disruption, blending controlled studio sessions with spontaneously captured lo-fi phone recordings.

Their sonic palette incorporates experimental noise elements like drum machine snaps, white noise, sprung synths, and pulsing bass. Caulfield's lyrics express fury, fairytales, revolution, and everyday grievances, often sung in French. Influenced by video games, dystopian sci-fi movies, and works like Dear Esther and Blade Runner 2049, the band's music defies categorization.

From tracks like "Peach Fuzz" to "Iron Maiden," Mandy, Indiana delivers a unique and groundbreaking musical experience. Their fully-realized sound embraces chaos, defies expectations, and explores uncharted territory.
